Mourning the Victims of the Vessel Collision in Hong Kong on 1 October 2012

(4 October 2012) – On the evening of 1 October, two vessels collided near Lamma Island in Hong Kong resulting in the death of 38 people and emotional trauma for many families, and sending Hong Kong into a state of mourning.
 
The HKSAR Government designated 4 October as a day of condolence when people across Hong Kong observed three minutes silence at 12:00 noon. From 4 October, the national and regional flags at all Central People's Government offices in the HKSAR and HKSAR Government offices were flown at half-mast for three consecutive days in memory of the victims.
 
The management and employees of China Everbright Limited in Hong Kong paid a silent tribute to the victims of the incident in a company meeting room at 12:00 noon on 4 October. The company’s website banner was also changed to black and white. We all prayed that the deceased would rest in peace and the survivors would recover. As a company, we would like to express our sincere sympathy to the families of the victims.
